Dorian L. Smith
President/CEODorian L. Smith is the founder and President/CEO of Community Explorers, Inc.
A product of rural Bennettsville, South Carolina, Dorian Smith has always been appreciative of his humble beginnings. He credits his family and community for their inspiration and encouragement to conquer whatever obstacles or barriers that may arise.
Graduating from Voorhees University, a historically black university located in Denmark, South Carolina, is one of his earliest achievements. This is where Dorian worked for the University’s Minority Male Consortium, where he mentored students in their after-school program. During the summers, he would return home and work for the Children’s Defense Fund- Bennettsville, South Carolina Office.
After graduation, Dorian was offered an academic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Master of Social Work degree (MSW). In 2006, he earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix. Furthermore, in 2009, Dorian completed the Mentoring Supervisor Certificate program at Fordham University in New York City.
An award-winning professional with a 25+ year history of orchestrating the trajectory of organizational successes. He has mastered the 3 pillars of organizational growth—financial management, personnel management, and community engagement.
Previously, Mr. Smith was Executive Director of the Kids-N-Hope Foundation, TAIG Foundation, Director of Development for The Merakey Foundation, State Director for Best Buddies Pennsylvania, and Senior Vice President of Business Development for American Heritage Federal Credit Union, all in Pennsylvania. In these capacities, Mr. Smith has amassed more than 40 million dollars in non-profit fundraising.
A highly effective leadership acumen has been a major resource leading to Dorian’s cultivation of organizational excellence. As a result of building top-performing philanthropy programs, Dorian has leveraged his successes to create an extensive network of community relationships and partnerships.
Dorian is very thankful for great mentors and their investment of time and guidance along the path of life. Through the development of Community Explorers, Inc., he is honored to give back to the community in which he lives; to those who have given so much to protect us; and, to those who will be our next generation of leadership.
Dorian lives in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and is married to Ivonne Martinez. Together they are the proud parents of three children, Trinity, Eden, and Alex.
